Marcel was one of the homeless children who lived with Gaspard. He used to sell newspapers in the streets of Paris. Marcel also became Remi's friend. Like Remi, he is also an animal lover. In episode 16 of the anime series, Marcel found a lost white kitten while returning home from work. He took the kitten and named it "Shiro," which means "white" in Japanese (note that Shiro's real name is Chocolat). The cute kitten stayed with Marcel until it was found by its real owner. In the end, Marcel and the other children that were once forced to work by Gaspard were adopted by Remi's real mother: the kind, wealthy English lady, Mrs. Milligan.
